Description: A Pierre Balmain couture black chiffon cocktail dress, early 1960s, labelled and numbered 125330, with corsetted inner bodice, wide, ruffled tulle neck edging/shoulder straps edged in seed beads, applied with velvet ribbons and facetted jet-like beads, the crimped chiffon skirt falling in gentle gathers, tie belt bust 81-86cm, 32-34in, waist 66cm, 26in (2) Provenance: Mrs Beverley Hylton (née Prowse, of Queensland Australia), former Miss Australia and the wife of Jack Hylton the world famous band leader and impresario.

Condition Report: Good condition. Hem on overskirt and slip has been let down (minor). Slight perspiration stains on tulle inner corset (minor). Pres-studs on exterior of under bodice suggest there was an additional piece? Dress itself is good condition, beading is good – a couple of detached beads which we have.
