Description
Circa 1820, probably Tennessee or Kentucky. Having the original thick white marble top with handsomely shaped edge resting atop figured mahogany freeze continuing down to four well carved and turned legs. Secondary wood is tulip poplar. Excellent uncommon form. H30 1/2" W38 3/4" D19 3/4" This piece is sold from the family of the original owners and was handed down to Fanny H Russell-Burt of Palatka, Florida to Ruth A Burt to Dr. J Kirby-Smith and then to his descendants today. It was used in the family home known as Powhatan Hall in Sewanee, Tennessee.
