This work has been authenticated by Michael Quick in a letter dated July 25, 2011, in which he states "..it is my opinion that A Misty Morning is an authentic work by George Inness." Canvas: 15.25" x 26" Frame: 26.5" x 37.5"

The painting is on the original stretcher, but is lined with an old flower patterned tablecloth (?). There are some retouches in the tree branches left and center near the top edge, and some scattered retouches at right and lower right. There is a repaired horizontal tear about 3-4" just above center. There is a crack at lower right, and cracks visible in the sky upper left
