Description
A large, well-preserved Egyptian bronze figure of Isis, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, with remnants of gilding. She is depicted seated suckling the child Horus who sits in her lap. She wears a tight-fitting gown and striated with uraeus and headdress consisting of a solar disk between cow's horns. H: 5 1/4 in (13.3 cm). Nicely patinated with remains of gold leaf or plating indicating the entire figure was originally gilded. Ex Pennsylvanian private collection acquired in 2002; Ex North Carolina private collection.
