Description
From China, a century before or after the turn of the Christian era, a secular painted gray pottery wall brick, a palace tile. A high born man, high modeled on the surface in 3/4 relief, now with some decent remains of its original green, red black and white earth 'paints'. In winged hat and long robes, he holds his belt and probably an offering in his right hand. Good solid condition, it has an old custom cut wood stand. Tile alone is 11"x 6" x 3.5" thick. Nice condition -Due to a late but very appropriate arrival, we have selected out fine and some important Asian antiques and art from the property of a New England collector's heir, a good part of which was gotten from Skinner's Auction & other noted sources decades ago. These particular and also serious Asian items will be offered together in sequence and will be available to be examined at our gallery.-
