Item Details
Description
William Morris was the main influence on the Arts and Crafts movement. Textile designer, poet and writer, his impact is still felt today with the resurgence of American Arts & Crafts. His ideas in the 1850s helped create the movement that would arise decades later. This book is about Morris’s career and work, including such things as the story behind his typographical designs and his founding of the Kelmscott Press. “William Morris – Poet, Craftsman, Socialist” by Elisabeth Luther Cary. Pub. 1902 by G. P. Putnam’s Sons (first edition). Wonderful cover designed by Margaret Armstrong. TEG. Gilt titling and design still vivid. Minor rubbing at tips and spine ends. A really lovely copy of an important first edition. 6.75 x 9.75. 296 pp.
