Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A pair of carved and sanded limestone beads, each cylindrical and drilled through vertically, with rounded edges. One has its surface decorated with abstract incised and relief geometric motifs; the other is ringed with high relief figures of two crouched humans, one holding what is either a child or a doll across its lap. Size: 1.45" W (3.7 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
