Louis XV/XVI Transitional Style Gilt Bronze Mounted Marquetry Commode

The grey and brown marble top with outset corners above a gilt-bronze scroll and entrelac-mounted frieze drawer over two drawers, raised on gilt-bronze-mounted hipped cabriole legs ending in scrolled sabots, the case stamped twice SORMANI/PARIS, the lockplate inscribed SORMANI/134 Rue d Haussmann, Paris.

Refinished. The case is stamped at both front canted corners; the top of the drawer is applied with the engraved brass tag. The marble top does have several very shallow scratches; the quality of the casting of the mounts is very good.
