Description
Antique ale tankard, made of thin-walled, hand blown opaque white glass. Hand enameled decoration with three colorful panels, floral motifs in each one, a basket of flowers in the central panel. Separately attached handle. Characteristic form and technique, known as "Stiegel type", after German-American master glassmaker Henry William Stiegel (1729-1785). Pontil on the underside left rough. Late 1700's-circa 1800. Measurements: Approx. 6.25" high, 5" diameter with handle, 4.25" base diameter. Weighs about 10 oz.| See our special $5 starting bid lots at the end of this auction!
