Description
Antique hand-blown, thin-walled clear glass flask bottle. Silvered top cap. All handcrafted in a characteristic arched and tapered rectangular form. Enameled ornamentation with blue, red, yellow, green, white and black over the clear body. Made by Henry William Stiegel, an immigrant glassmaker who started his factory in Colonial Pennsylvania in 1763, and remained in operation until 1774. All hand blown and crafted, pontil left rough on underside. Known as "Stiegel-Type" after him, this type of glassware was made in the tradition of central German glassmakers and was a popular style during the period in Europe and later the American Colonies.
