This lot consists of a framed, hand executed ink illustration on paper, hand signed "J.T.G." and dated "43" at bottom of composition. Image depicts a series of neatly delineated boxes, which are inhabited by symbols of everyday life in a port city. An anchor, a fish, a train, and a bottle are among the many images this piece is imbued with. A story is described before our very eyes; though not obvious from the get-go, it becomes apparent with each passing moment spent absorbing the art. A fine drawing and a find for any collector. Done in the modern, constructivist style of Joaquín Torres García (Spanish-Uruguayan, 1874-1949). Framed piece measures approximately 17.5" x 20". Image sight measures approximately 10" x 12.5".
