Michael Goldberg (American, 1924-2007): Oil on canvas, signed bottom, titled and dated 1960 verso. Michael Goldberg was a "second generation" abstract expressionist best known for his association with the New York School. His work synthesized Western painting traditions and Eastern philosophies through expressive brushwork and free association abstraction. He taught at the School of Visual Arts in NYC where he was revered by his students.
