DARWIN (Charles) autograph letter signed, 4pp., dated May 25th [1851], to Mrs Horner, [wife of Leonard Horner, a past President of the Geological Society of London], initially expressing thanks for their sympathy [presumably on the recent loss of Darwin's daughter Annie]; Darwin writes: 'As you ask after Emma, I write a line to say that she and baby [Horace, born 13 May 1851] are essentially going on perfectly well, but she does not recover her strength or spirits so quickly as I could wish. In the profound quietudes of Down, all your schemes [?] and movements seem awfully bustling; ... pray give my very kind remembrances to Katharine and Capt. Lyell...'
