Pattern 1873, Imperial Japanese Navy full dress uniform with "Austrian" style bullion wire embroidery. Full uniform comes with waistcoat & tails jacket, Naval cap with Senior Officer insignia, one each white and black vests, one each white and black trousers with gold leg stripe, black mourning armband, and detachable white collar. Also includes white bow-tie and additional gold leg stripe material. The cap is in its original case and the entire uniform is in its original large wooden box with compartments for extra pieces. The uniform jacket has 4 medals dating from World War I to the late 1920s -- They are the Showa Enthronement Medal (1928), the Taisho Enthronement Medal (1915), the First National Census Medal (1920), and the Japanese Red Cross Medal in Silver. The rank insignia on the uniform is for a flag officer level civilian employee of the Navy, likely involved in medical administration. Uniform has "Mitsukoshi" tailor label inside, and a handwritten tailor tag inside from Osaka Japan, named to "Ashido" "Sept. 1928." Ashido was a civilian employee of the Imperial Japanese Navy holding a rank equivalent to that of an Admiral, as denoted by the double-wire gold braid on the cockade of the cap and the cuff and collar insignia on the jacket. This is an incredibly rare and complete Imperial Japanese uniform from a historically significant figure in Japanese military history. Excellent- Near Mint.*
