French Napoleon III Gilt Bronze and Alabaster Clock, 19th c., with a figure depicting Diana, Goddess of the Hunt, presented in a blown glass dome on ebonized base, Clock- H.- 13 1/2 in., W.- 18 in., D.- 7 in., with dome- H.- 18 in., W.- 22 in., D.- 8 5/4 in.

Condition

Condition consistent with age and use. Wear and loss to gilt throughout, particularly on Diana. Diana’s bow shows possible break near upper shoulder. Minor loss of gilt leaf at front base of clock. Marble shows signs of wear and loss near gilt. Base shows minor surface scratches and knicks, with possible minor wood worm damage. Would benefit from a cleaning. A lovely example.
