Book Details: This complete set of six-in-three volumes is handsomely bound in green cloth with leather spines and gilt lettering and tooling to the spine. The work is lavishly illustrated with many engraved illustrations. Charles Knight (1791-1873), noted for his illustrated works, contributed numerous chapters along with G.L. Craik, J. Saunders, W. Weir, G. Dodd, and J.C. Platt. Features include: London Bridge, St. Mary Overies, The Roman Remains, Doctors’ Commons, The East India House, The Old London Booksellers, The Gardens of the Zoological Society, and much more.
Condition / Notes: These antique volumes show well, with mild indications of age and wear, including shelfwear and rubbing. Small antique paper labels are visible on spines. Hinges show cracking (with some hinge repair). Binding of final volume is splitting between pages xx and xxi. Antique bookplates appear on endpapers and library stamp is visible on each initial title page.
