HISTORY OF LA CIGALE THEATER:

The La Cigale theatre was built in the heart of Paris and is a “Listed Monument.” First it was home to cabaret, where the greatest french stars like Mistinguett, Maurice Chevalier, Arletty, Eugénie Bufet performed. Then later on, Cocteau held his futuristic parties there. In the fourties, it became a cinema, later specializing in kung-fu films. In 1987, the new Cigale was brought up to date and redecorated by architect-designer Philippe Starck. It re-opened as a multi-purpose venue, host to some of the most avant-garde artists on the international scene, established french stars, and various different unusual events whether public or private. – La Cigale Website
