Ronald Reagan: Fitz & Floyd White House China, Spectacular Plate

Original Ronald Reagan White House Fitz & Floyd china service plate. Plate measures 7.5" in diameter with a blue, red, and gold border around the rim, and the United States seal in the center in gold. Bottom of the plate is marked, “White House Service by Robert C. Floyd, Fritz and Floyd, Inc. Fine China, 1983.”  Accompanied by a photocopy of a 1983 letter from President Reagan thanking the manufacturer Mr. Floyd for making the china “to be used in the White House, at Camp David and aboard Air Force One.” Ex-Stan Whitlock (see biography below).

In 1983, President Reagan and the First Lady determined that there was a need for a handsome set of White House china. This set was designated as everyday china, the collection used aboard Air Force One, at Camp David and at the White House. This would be the stunning set often used by the President for his one-on-one weekly luncheons with Vice-President George H. W. Bush, and the Fitz & Floyd porcelain was also used for other important dining settings such as for a luncheon with Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. This is perhaps the most attractive daily china that the White House has ever had in residence and/or used so extensively.  A lovely photo shown for reference only, depicts President Reagan, Vice President George Bush, Margaret Thatcher and other dignitaries dining at Camp David using pieces of this lovely china.

Provenance: Ex-Stan Whitlock

According to Stan Whitlock's LinkedIn page, he is the principal of a consulting business named Media Strategies Group. In this capacity, Whitlock provides crisis media consulting, public relations direction, and speech writing. He writes: "As speech writer, I'm proud to have worked 'across the aisle' for some key Republican and Democratic leaders alike on the state and national levels…President Reagan once told me, approvingly, that I would have made a 'good Hollywood script writer'…" Whitlock has considerable journalistic experience. He has edited several newspapers, directed a TV news affiliate, and "designed and deployed successful campaigns for a host of political and business clients, from national Presidential, Gubernatorial and Congressional campaigns to Fortune 500 CEOs as well as the occasional entertainment and sports celebrity."
