The signature of Nikita Magaloff, celebrated Russian concert pianist, also appears on the dedication page. From the foreword: “…Now all this Russia of ours is changed. The Double-Eagle Standard no longer floats proudly over the Winter Palace, the monks have left the Lavra, the beautiful estates in the country are in the hands of strangers. But let us pretend for a time that this is not so. Let us take you back into old Russia as it was in the days before the Revolution. Let us hope we have prophesied truly for Nikita who now studies music in a great city far from the land of his birth.â€
