A rare old wooden mask from the Bamileke peoples, Cameroon, Africa. Carved wood, with heavy erosion and decay, well weathered and worn edges. This is a rare mask, and considered one of the most dangerous and ferocious of all Bamileke masks. Only danced on occasion of big festivities. During the performance the mask was fixed by ropes and sprinkled with water in order to calm its aggressiveness.
