This oil on stretched canvas painting depicting a floral still life scene of daisies in a simple vase is signed and dated by the artist Charles Ethan Porter(American, 1847-1923) in the lower right. Painted in 1884, this work titled "Daisies" was featured in the 2008 exhibit "Charles Ethan Porter: American-American Master of Still Life" at the New Britain Museum ofAmerican Art in New Britain, Connecticut. Charles Ethan Porter was a Hartford, Connecticut native and has been described by AskArt as a recently rediscovered "major 19th century painter." This painting isprofessionally framed in a gilt carved frame. Frame measures 22 inches x 19.5 inches; stretcher measures approximately 15.5 inches x 13 inches.
