Holy Land, Early Islamic, Umayyad Period, ca. 7th to early 8th century CE. This alluring terracotta vessel features a raised concentric ring base that extends outwards to shadow the neck channel above, rough flat sides, pinched shoulders which display an elegant tapestry-like design of raised drooping line pairs and dots accentuating each bowed area, a thick vertical handle, a large fill hole surrounded by concentric rings, a narrow neck channel with a raised abstract palm-branch design, and a small wick spout. Size: 3.875" L x 2.875" W x 1.75" H (9.8 cm x 7.3 cm x 4.4 cm).
