Description
For your consideration is an incredibly large painting, entitled, "Magic Man/Magic King," signed and dated by Ouattara Watts, 1995. In excellent condition, but needs to be re-stretched. The dimensions are 149" W x 97" H.
Ouattara Watts was born in 1957 in Abidjan. He studied at L’Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux- Arts Paris. Live and Work In New YorK
Ouattara Watts has exhibited at MoMA PS1, the Whitney Biennale, and the New Museum in New York. He has also held solo exhibitions at various institutions and galleries including: Hess Art Collection,San Fransisco usa and Paarl, South Africa; Magazzino d’arte Moderna, Rome, Italy; Galeria Leyendeker, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canay Island, Spain; The Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH; Leo Koenig, New York, NY; Baldwin Gallery, Aspen, CO; The Kemper Museum, Kansas City, MO; Gagosian Gallery, New York, NY; and, Documenta in Kassel,Germany Berkeley museum, San Fransisco USA. Japon and elsewhere.
In other words, Ouattara Watts is a citizen of the world. As he puts it, “There’s no point being a painter if your work doesn’t speak to people everywhere.†His does.All artwork has been examined and appraised by Terri Stearn of Detroit Fine Art Appraisals. Stearn is a native of Detroit with over twenty five years experience in fine art sales, curation and fine art appraisals. She is an active member of the American Society of Appraisers. Her expertise is focused on, but not limited to, 20th century post war and contemporary art, 21st century art, and glass. She is an expert in the assessment of condition of original works as well as limited edition prints.
