Description
Auguste Joseph Peiffer (French 1832 - 1886). A charming and superbly detailed sculpture depicting two fleeing classical ladies in flowing robe. One holds a bow and quiver, the other with arrows. Signed on the base, Peiffer. 16H. Peiffer mainly worked in bronze on allegorical and mythological subjects. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1865 to 1879. The Mus_e Antoine Vivenel at Compigne hold his statuettes of Arab playing the mandolin and Arab playing the tambour. From THE SANDRA CLEMENTS BRONZE COLLECTION.
