Description
This book is in Russian language.

"Obras Nikolaja Chudotvorzha", ['The Image of Saint Nicolas the Miracle-worker'], by Aleksey Remisov, published by YMCA Press, Paris, 1931, printed in France. First edition.

This book is not only an important work of historical research, it is also an example of Alexei Remisov's linguistic art. His poetical style and language based on the folkloric cultural traditions of Russian narrative, make this book one of Remisov's masterworks.
Aleksei Mikhailovich Remizov (1877-1957) was a Russian writer. Apart from literary works, Remizov was an expert calligrapher who sought to revive this medieval art in Russia.

In the 'Image of Saint Nicolas', Remisov discusses the impact of Saint Nicolas on Russian culture and religiosity, the historical records, legends, miracles, folklore, the special honored and miracle-working icons of St Nicolas, their history and their impact and miracles. Remisov's main intent is to describe how the Image of Saint Nicolas is one of the cornerstones of Russian Orthodox culture and spirituality.

The second part of the 'Obras Nikolaja Chudotvorzha', "Istoria and Bibliographia," is dedicated to the history of all major publications about St Nicolas of Myra, and St Nicolas of Sion. According to Remisov, the folklore melted together these two saints into one image. The collection of historical records in regards of Nicolas the Miracle-worker began in the 15th century. Remisov's annotation starts with Nicolaus Garminus Falconius (1751), and discusses major research and publications until the end of the 19th century.
