Description
1791 EARLY American ed Church of Scotland Westminster Assembly Catechism
John Willison was an early 18th-century Scottish minister known for his works of apologetics toward the Church of Scotland. He was actively involved in defending the church against Jacobite accusations as well as providing explanation for theological and liturgical aspects of the Church of Scotland. One such work was his defense and explanation of the Shorter Catechism which he first published in 1737. (In 1647, the Westminster Assembly wrote a ‘shorter catechism’ that would bring conformity to the Churches of England and Scotland).
