Engraved map. 30x44 cm (11¾x17¼").
Early map of Japan showing the 66 provinces with both Roman and Sino-Japanese names. It is the first Western produced map using Japanese cartography and ignoring the prior European use of fictitious names. The inset map of Nagasaki "Vue de la Ville de Nangasacki..." is at lower center and is surrounded by 21 Armories of the Emperor and his shoguns. "Tome 3, Pag 57" engraved in top left margin.
Condition
A bit of edge wear, right margins partially trimmed to neat line for folding into book, as issued, old folds, very good.
