FRANKREICHS SCHULD (France's Guilt).
Third Reich German propaganda poster published in the spring of 1940.
Original double sided propaganda map offered as a supplement to the NSDAP propaganda magazine ILLUSTRIERTER BEOBACHTER (Illustrated Observer).
Depiction of France on one side, and its overseas colonial holdings on the other.
France is represented by an overblown stereotypical representation of an African Colonial soldier with his arms crossed and a French tricolor attached to his rifle bearing the motto LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE. Behind him stands a stereotypical depiction of a Jewish banker as well as Free French general Charles de Gaulle and a second colonial soldier which depicts how france is shielding behind its black colonial troops.
Dimensions: 22 in. x 29 1/2 in.
Condition: good colors, slight splitting in folds, minor edge and interior tears, age appropriate.
Provenance: private estate.
