His first training in arts took place in the Dominican Republic through his participation in the workshops of the Spanish cabinetmaker Pascual Palacios. 1942 Prats Ventos studied with José Gausachs and Manuel Pascual in the National School of Fine Arts. He devoted himself mainly to sculpture and is known for using a large variety of woods for his works, but he also used stone, marble, clay and metals to create his sculptures. Prats Ventos was also a painter and draftsman, and designed tapestries and created ceramic murals. In 1946 he participated in the III Biennial of Plastic Arts where he received second place for sculpture. In the 1948 IV Biennial he won the second prize with a work in alabaster. From 1950 to 1969 Prats Ventos was a professor of sculpture at the National School of Fine Arts. From 1967 to 1978 he taught Expression and Design and Decoration at the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña, where, in 1992, he received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
