Description
Circa 1885. The piece is sold from the original owner Mr. of New York, New York. It is accompanied by 1885 written correspondence between the would-be owner and Mr. AlbertÕs office regarding an appointment in New York to have Mr. Alberts himself allow the owner to try several models while on a visit to the city. It is also accompanied by a 1903 letter from E.J. Alberts, his son, which addresses issues with the strings on the piece later in its life. The piece is accompanied by its two original bows, one of which is impressed ÒTourteÓ. The piece is impressed at the interior ÒJ. Alberts, Manufacturers of American Violins PhiladelphiaÓ. Housed in the original case. Sold from the collection of a private Aiken, South Carolina family.

Good condition. The case having no cracks or restoration detected.
