Description
A 19th c. Chinese Mangpao Heavily Embellished Silk Nine Dragon Robe, couched gold thread and satin stitch on front and back, the front with three five-clawed dragons facing flaming pearls among ruyi clouds, five dragons on the back, and the last dragon hidden inside the underflap; with single bats, clusters of paired bats, all on a pale chestnut-toned ground. The terrestrial diagram and lishui stripe at the arms and hem with auspicious emblems. NOTE: ex-Christie's, Sale 13751 September 14-17 2017, lot 940. Dimensions: 78" H x 54" W
