The pierced brass gallery with an inset marble top with a frieze drawer below, the drawer stamped JACOB FRERES.
34in (86.5cm); width 38 1/2in (98cm); depth 16 1/4in (41.5cm)Provenance: Property from a Private Collection, Altadena, California.Footnote: Jacob Freres was the cabinet making firm of Georges II (1768-1803) and Francois-Honore Jacob (1770-1841) from 1796-1803. They were the sons of preeminent 18th century ebeniste Georges Jacob. Jacob Freres were commissioned by aristocracy and royalty in the, their most famous client being Josephine Bonaparte.
Condition
Drawer later fitted for flatware. In overall restored condition. Marble top probably replaced. Structurally sound. Brass inlay panels to frieze replaced. General marks, nicks and scratches. Dings to brass overall. Marble panel to undertier broken and restored. With replaced filets to undertaker to restore shrinkage cracks. Visible old woodworm. Spotting and loss of slivering to mirrored panel. One key.
