African Hair, Animal Hide, Cowrie Shell, and Wicker Headdress, Dan or Krahn, Ivory Coast or Liberia, interior filled/lined with feathers, h. (approx.) 16 3/4 in., w. (approx.) 16 in., d. (approx.) 9 in.; tail l. 19 in. Provenance: Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis, TN. Condition: Structurally sound; hair is shedding throughout; separation between hair covered hide at the top; separation between tail panel and headdress; scattered cowrie shell losses throughout though design/overall effect remains intact. IMPORTANT: All purchases must be removed from our premises within 10 days of the auction.
