This incredible story portrays slave families being torn apart through being sold and resold by slave masters. This story had a polarizing reaction. Over 300,000 of the first edition had to be printed, but remarkably was banned in most of the American South! Even still, it was the most-popular and highest-selling book in the 19th-century and is on the Grolier American 100!
