An "Evening Journal" picture of Mr. Takis, his wife and toddler son which states (newspaper article written around 1930): "Although Nicholas Takis enjoyed all of the luxuries of a millionaire's son only a few years ago and today is selling his paintings for what he can get, the change in his fortune doesn't bother him. He's as "happy now as I ever was," with his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Takis, and son, Robert, he said. In addition, he's able to continue his art career. April 9, 1979 from Chicago Tribune featuring "Blue Shutters, 30x40, $6000" at a showing at Marshall Field reads: "See an exhibition and selling of works by Nicholas Takis (1903-64) at our State Street Store. This internationally renowned artist was born in New York City and studied at the Art Students League and the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts. A pioneer in American Expressionism, his oil paintings have been exhibited in several prominent museums, such as the Contemporary Art Gallery in New York, and in many private collections throughout the country.
