Dirk van Erp Japanese Basket Plant Stand Table c1918. Japanese hand-woven basket plant stand table with Dirk van Erp hammered copper trim. During WWI when copper and other metals were rationed, Dirk van Erp was able to remain in business by purchasing Japanese and Chinese baskets and using copper scraps as trim on these pieces. This is the only table and largest example of any Dirk van Erp Japanese basket. Unsigned. Many of breaks within the basket table itself and missing some of the wrapped portions. Excellent original patina and original finish to wooden base. 29"h x 25"w x 15.5"d.
