Description
This is an example of a Type I, late production, a.k.a. Model 2 derringer manufactured in 1868 with the manual extractor. The top of the barrel rib has the two line Remington address/Elliot patent date marking. Factory scroll engraving featured on the frame and top barrel at the breech. Serial number on barrel, with illegible serial number on frame. Fitted with smooth ivory bird head grips.

Condition
Fine. The derringer retains 40% original nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The grips are good with hairline cracks overall and a couple small chips on the right panel. The ivory has a smooth yellow appearance. The engraving is clear and crisp.
