Description
Late Meiji Period Furniture Mahogany Panels, five of which are probably from a Tansu cabinet, in graduated sizes from 8 3/4" x 9" to 11" x 20", with repeating themes in gold lacquer on bas relief of two hills landscapes with foliage, having mother-of-pearl inlaid features, the largest with a figure of a reclining boy, all with reticulated bracket, mounted in later mitered frames having inlaid Chinese mother-of-pearl game counters, each brush-inscribed verso, good condition; PLUS A Single Similar but double-sided panel with mother-of-pearl and other figures, reticulated spandrel, frame with gold lacquer details, bird and blossoms on one side (some bits missing) foliage on the other (intact), 14 1/2" x 12 1/2"; PLUS Four-Lobed Domed Chiseled Brass Plaque of a Warrior fighting a Mythical Beast in a Forest, set into a reticulated rectangular mahogany frame, 12" x 13 3/4", small chip to rim of frame, otherwise good condition.
