Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Vicus culture, ca. 200 BCE to 200 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel painted in vivid hues of vermilion, black, beige, and cream. Intricate zigzagging, fretted, and curvilinear motifs envelop the entire vessel, and the charming monkey head - which doubles as the tone hole for the whistle - produced a high-pitched sound when air is blown into the spout.
