Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Ibarra Area (Central Highlands), ca. 500 to 1500 CE. A fascinating votive pendant in the form of an axe, made from a pale greenstone with a few black inclusions. A large drilled hole at the upper side allows the piece to be worn. Its wide, curved blade is slightly concave on one side and convex on the other, forming an almost scoop-like shape. Size: 3.6" W x 4.5" H (9.1 cm x 11.4 cm)
