Ming Dynasty Blue Underglazed White Porcelain Dragon Moon Flask W/Six Character Xuande Reign Mark (From a Vietnamese Royal Family) - This white porcelain moon flask is of typical form with a circular body (representing the moon), a flat base and a narrow cylindrical neck. It is beautifully decorated in vivid cobalt blue underglaze with an elaborate dragon motif against a background of stylized smoke wisps. The vase bears the six character Xuande reign mark in underglazed blue at the base of the neck, and the bottom is left undecorated and unglazed. This piece comes from the estate of a Vietnamese Royal Family (the family now lives in the United States, and wishes to remain private as they still have relatives living in Vietnam).
