Description

Antique German Porcelain Chocolate Set made By Carl Tielsch. All with a Childrens Toys / Circus Theme. 6 Saucers , 6 Cups, Creamer , Waste Bowl (mismatched) and Chocolate Pot approximately 7". Weight on all 2 pd 11 oz. PROVENANCE: A Private Charleston SC Estate. All have a marked base and the marks used date the set between 1895 and around 1900. Carl Tielsch founded the Altwasser factory in 1845. It swiftly became second largest porcelain factory in Silesia. After twenty years the factory employed 1,400 employees. Products of the Tielsch factory quickly became known for its high quality and artistic values. Their quality was compared to porcelain manufactures from Berlin or even Meissen.
