Ancient Sienese Italian Primitive Tuscan Type Painting
Formerly attributed (by unknown persons) to Andrea di Bartolo da Jesi, his atelier, after or school of. He, a known and well regarded Sienna artist, 1389-1428. Tempera and gold gilding on wood panel, 'Crowning of the Virgin', a rather square panel with possibly a correct version of its original frame. It seems rather untouched except for minor over painted thin part at the crack line of the wood panel, and, needs some further modest work at a few chips there as well as some better back support. Printed and attached, is info and image of one of his known masterworks, (the many minor figures there are painted very close to these)..Beyond the speculation of its author, with its ancient appearing surface and old gilt picked architectural frame, it surely conveys the atmosphere of the wondrous and formative era of ancient Italian church painting. Painting is 12 5/8" wide x 10 3/4" high, ..the frame is 20 7/8" high x 19" wide.
