Description
Finely painted, well potted, matching Imari bowls that are true gems. It’s amazing the workmanship involved in making these bowls. Two hand potted porcelain bowls with slightly everted mouth rims. They have shallow unglazed foot rings with glazed bases. The glazes used are a soft, thin white glaze with designs in underglaze cobalt blue, and gold and red over glaze enamels. The outside of the bowls are painted with designs of tied leaves and cherry blossoms. The interiors have lappets with floral designs. The central well is decorated in clouds. A wave border circles the mouth. One bowl has crackle in the white glaze while the other bowl doesn’t. Above the foot is a border of cobalt marks. MEASUREMENTS 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) diameter x 2 ¼” (5.7 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 1.5 oz (495 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, breaks or chips. There is wear to the gilding on the mouth rim. The pair look bright and shiny. A well matched, colorful pair of bowls that add richness and distinction to your home décor.
