791. Ferdy Mayne complete cuirass and helmet from Ben-Hur. (MGM, 1951) Ornate cuirass worn by Ferdy Mayne as the Captain of the rescue ship in Ben-Hur. Constructed of molded fiberglass decorated with cherubs and griffons, cloth at the neck, with hand-painted gold details, black leather apron decorated with gold cherub faces. Handwritten inside "Ferdi[sic] Mayne Iamanti". Includes a fiberglass helmet belonging to another officer with wool internal padding and bright orange bristles along the crown. An impressively detailed suit of hero wardrobe from this epic film. It exhibits some scuffing and wear but remains in very good condition.
