The ‘Preliminary report on the eighth census’ is the last census report to show slavery data. Interestingly, since the preceding Census of the U.S. (1850) added every member of the household including women, children and slaves, Kennedy added also American Indians if they had renounced tribal rules. Particularly are the government discussions on disabilities of blindness, idiocy, and the major diseases at the time.
This 1862 edition of Kennedy's census report includes topics such as:
Growth of New York with an added population of 783,000 to Virginia where the population had gone down by 17% for the white population (and 3.88% of the slave population)
