Description
**Originally Listed At $400**
Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana (BMAC) (Oxus Civilization), Bronze Age, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A handsome triple-bowled vessel made from beautiful banded brown and cream-colored stone for holding kohl and other cosmetics. Each of the identical bowls is carved out deeply, with a thick, overhanging rim and an inverted teardrop form so that it stands on three rounded bases. Based on ancient evidence, we believe that the Bactrian concept of feminine beauty involved cosmetically enhanced dark eyes, and this pretty vessel would have belonged to a woman in this culture.
