Etienne Clerissi (French, 1888-1971), "PLM Monaco" poster, colored lithograph, ca. 1930s. Signed in the plate at lower right. "P.L.M" at upper left. An original colored lithograph poster produced by the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de Paris a Lyon et a la Mediterrane (PLM) railroad to promote train travel to Monaco. A vibrant colorful view of Monaco from the Botanic Gardens, including the Rock, the harbor and the bay that has been reclaimed and is now the location of Fontvielle. In addition to the alluring imagery, the bold text is delineated in quintessential Art Deco style. Set in a white mat and beautiful gilt-green wood frame under glass. Size: 39" L x 24" W (99.1 cm x 61 cm); 41.5" L x 26.375" W (105.4 cm x 67 cm) framed
The PLM was a French railway company created between 1858 and 1862 and primarily operating in the southeast of France. Its main line connected Paris to the Côte d'Azur by way of Dijon, Lyon, and Marseille. The company had wonderful Art Deco posters like this one created to inspire railway travel in Europe.

This is an original vintage poster - not a reproduction. Poster has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be excellent as does the framing.
