A choice Cypriot red-polished black topped bowl, c. 1900 - 1650 BC, hand modeled with hemispherical body and single pierce lug at the rim, presumably for suspension. The exterior of the vessel id red slipped and beautifully burnished, the interior and exterior black from being turned upside down and the rim buried during firing. 3 1/8 x 5 3/4 in (7.9 x 14.6 cm). Well-preserved with light deposits, old collection numbers on base. A gorgeous example! Ex Orange County private collection.
