Carved wooden head crest with two faces decorated with swirling lines on animal skin, basketry cap, inset teeth with raffia grass and woven rope adornment. Boki peoples, Cross River region, Nigeria, Africa. The headdress measures 10 x 9.5 inches. Provenance: Carl Zabel, NY , donated to the SMA Museum of African Art. Eventually sold in deaccession. Dr Brian Healy estate, NY.
